Saâd, Thuruban, Andrija and Luka, Swiss officers of Serbian, Sri Lankan and Tunisian origin, have retained a strong link with their native culture. In a personal documentary, director Luka Popadić portrays three Swiss officers of Serbian, Sri Lankan and Tunisian origin, with humour and sincerity, challenging prejudices about homeland, integration and diversity.

Luka Popadic’s films are as varied and surprising as his biography. The Swiss with Serbian roots returned to his parents’ home country in 2009, and graduated with a Master’s degree in Film Directing from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade in 2014. As an assistant director he worked in Chicago and Berlin before directing his own films. After several award winning short films, SWISS CITIZEN SOLDIERS is his first documentary feature.
